Final practice for the 2025 British Grand Prix delivered a chaotic blend of speed, setbacks and split-second drama, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc emerging on top in an interrupted FP3 session at Silverstone. The Monegasque set the pace with a 1:25.498, edging out McLaren’s Oscar Piastri by just over a tenth as teams made their final tweaks ahead of Qualifying. Max Verstappen looked sharper than in previous sessions and slotted into third, while Lando Norris thrilled the home crowd again by briefly going quickest before settling for P4.

What To Know?
  • Leclerc Leads Tight Field: Charles Leclerc topped FP3 with a 1:25.498, narrowly ahead of Piastri, Verstappen and Norris in a close session.
  • Red Flags Disrupt Late Runs: Incidents for Bearman and Bortoleto halted the session twice, ruining several flying laps, including Hamilton’s.
  • Wind and Conditions Add Spice: Cooler, gusty weather caught out several drivers, increasing the setup challenge ahead of Qualifying.

After a sun-soaked Friday, Saturday brought cooler temperatures and overcast skies — and with them, more unpredictable grip and gusty winds. That challenge became clear early on as Kimi Antonelli had a “massive moment” through the ultra-fast Maggotts-Becketts section, and Lance Stroll narrowly avoided spinning out of Luffield. Lewis Hamilton initially led the field with a 1:26.529 on softs and was on a flying lap that looked set to reclaim P1 when the session’s first red flag was triggered — a result of debris from Ollie Bearman’s Haas, following a pit entry misjudgment that damaged his front wing.

The session resumed but was soon halted again when Gabriel Bortoleto lost control of his Kick Sauber in the high-speed esses, ending up in the gravel with clear suspension damage. That late red flag locked in the order, with Leclerc holding onto P1 from Piastri, Verstappen and Norris. Yuki Tsunoda impressed in P5 for Red Bull, while Bearman — despite his incident — still claimed P6, showing strong one-lap pace in the Haas.

Alex Albon’s P7 run gave Williams a timely boost, just ahead of George Russell, Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson. Hamilton had to settle for 11th after his best lap was compromised by the first red flag. Behind him were Carlos Sainz, Esteban Ocon, and Antonelli, with the rest of the grid — including Hulkenberg, Alonso, Colapinto, Stroll and Gasly — occupying the lower end of the timesheets.
