Klodwig entered two World Championship Grands Prix, both at the German Grand Prix, driving privately prepared BMW-based cars fitted with different engines. Despite limited resources and machinery that was not on par with factory teams, he managed to finish both races, achieving a best result of 12th place.
His appearances came during a period when privateer entrants were still a common feature of Formula One, often competing against better-funded works teams.
