His only World Championship entry came at the 1959 Monaco Grand Prix, where he entered his privately run Cooper T45. Despite his efforts, he was unable to qualify for one of the most competitive grids of the season, bringing his brief Formula One campaign to an end before the race itself.
Although he never started a World Championship Grand Prix, Lucienbonnet continued racing in a variety of categories, remaining an active figure in French motorsport.
Lucienbonnet’s career was cut tragically short in 1962 when he was involved in a fatal accident during a Formula Junior race in Sicily. He died on 19 August at the age of 39, bringing to an end the career of a determined racer whose passion for motorsport saw him compete wherever opportunities arose.
