Langley was an American racing car constructor founded by car owner and mechanic Joe Langley, which made a single appearance in the Formula One World Championship. The team entered the 1950 Indianapolis 500, the only World Championship event it contested, during the period when the famous race counted towards the FIA Formula One World Championship.
Although its time on the international stage was brief, Langley forms part of Formula One history through its participation in the championship’s inaugural season.

Formula One
The Indianapolis 500 was included on the Formula One World Championship calendar from 1950 to 1960, allowing a large number of American constructors and drivers to be officially credited with Formula One World Championship entries despite competing exclusively in the Indianapolis classic.
Langley’s sole World Championship appearance came at the 1950 Indianapolis 500, where the team entered a car for American driver Gene Hartley. Hartley qualified 31st on the grid and completed the race in 16th position.
The result was both the first and last Formula One World Championship appearance for the Langley constructor, which did not return to the championship after the 1950 season.
