Racing Career

Born in England, Moss built his reputation in British single-seater racing before making an attempt to enter Formula One in 1959. He entered the 1959 British Grand Prix at Aintree with the United Racing Stable team, driving a Cooper T51 built to Formula Two regulations.

At the time, Formula Two cars were permitted to compete alongside Formula One machinery at selected Grands Prix, giving smaller teams and private entrants an opportunity to challenge the established constructors. However, Moss was unable to secure a place on the starting grid after failing to qualify for the race.

Although his Formula One career was limited to that single World Championship entry, Moss went on to achieve notable success elsewhere. In 1961, he won the British Formula Junior Championship, one of the most competitive junior racing series of the era and an important proving ground for aspiring Grand Prix drivers.

Death

Bill Moss died on 13 January 2010 at the age of 76.
