Franco Forini (born 22 September 1958) is a former Swiss racing driver whose career took him from Formula 3 champion to the Formula One grid. He raced in the Italian Formula Three Championship from 1981 to 1985, saving his best for last. Driving a Dallara-Volkswagen for Forti Corse — a team that would later make the leap to Formula One — Forini captured the 1985 Italian F3 title. That same season, he also finished runner-up in the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix Formula 3 support race.
With an F3 crown under his belt, Forini stepped up to Formula 3000 in 1986, although the move brought little in the way of results. His big opportunity arrived the following year when he graduated to Formula One, making his Grand Prix debut with Osella on 6 September at the 1987 Italian Grand Prix. Forini ultimately started three Grands Prix during his brief spell at the top level, but was unable to score a World Championship point.
With his Formula One adventure over, Forini headed back to familiar territory, returning to Formula 3 for the 1988 and 1989 seasons. A second chapter in the category did not deliver the success of his title-winning campaign; however, his frontline racing career subsequently came to an end. Away from the circuit, Forini later turned his attention to business, running a transportation and shipment company in Minusio, Switzerland.
