Günther Seiffert (18 October 1937 – 11 November 2020) was a German racing driver whose brief Formula One career unfolded mainly in non-Championship events.

His sole attempt to enter a World Championship Grand Prix came at the Nürburgring in 1962. Seiffert shared a Lotus with team owner Wolfgang Seidel, but neither driver managed to qualify the car for the German Grand Prix.
Seiffert continued appearing in non-Championship Formula One races during 1962 and 1963, usually with Seidel’s private team. Front-running machinery was not part of the arrangement: he generally started near the rear of the grid and tended to finish in much the same territory.
His most controversial outing came in the 1962 Lavant Cup. While being lapped early in the race, Seiffert collided with motorcycle world champion turned Formula One star John Surtees.
A considerably better result arrived at Seiffert’s final Formula One meeting. He finished seventh in the 1963 Austrian Grand Prix, although the winner completed 12 more laps—a sizeable deficit even by the adventurous standards of privateer racing.
After stepping away from competition, Seiffert turned his enthusiasm for machinery into a business. He became a dealer in classic cars while also selling automotive accessories and slot-car racing equipment.
Seiffert died on 11 November 2020 at the age of 83.
