Franck Lagorce (born 1 September 1968) is a French racing driver whose career has spanned Formula One, Formula 3000, touring cars and endurance racing. After establishing himself as one of France’s leading young single-seater talents during the early 1990s, Lagorce earned a brief opportunity in Formula One before enjoying a successful career across a variety of racing disciplines.

Early Career
Lagorce began his competitive career in French Formula Ford, racing in the championship between 1987 and 1989.
His rapid progress continued in 1990 when he finished runner-up in the French Formula Renault Championship, establishing himself as one of France’s brightest emerging prospects.
He stepped up to the French Formula Three Championship in 1991 and enjoyed a breakthrough campaign the following year, capturing the 1992 title and attracting the attention of teams higher up the single-seater ladder.
Formula 3000
Following his Formula Three success, Lagorce graduated to International Formula 3000, then recognised as the principal feeder series to Formula One.
Across two seasons in the championship, he claimed four race victories and emerged as one of the category’s leading drivers. His strongest campaign came in 1994, when he finished runner-up in the championship, reinforcing his credentials for a Formula One opportunity.
Formula One Career
Lagorce joined Ligier as the team’s test driver for the 1994 Formula One season, continuing in the role the following year.
His chance to race came at the end of the 1994 campaign after Johnny Herbert left Ligier to join Benetton, replacing J. J. Lehto, who had been loaned to Sauber.
Lagorce drove in the final two Grands Prix of the season, making his Formula One World Championship debut on 6 November at the Japanese Grand Prix. Although he did not score championship points, the appearances represented the culmination of a rapid rise through the junior single-seater categories.
In 1996, he remained involved in Formula One by becoming a test driver for Forti Corse, continuing to contribute behind the scenes despite no further race starts.
Success Beyond Formula One
After leaving Grand Prix racing, Lagorce enjoyed continued success in other motorsport categories.
In 1996, he won the Renault Spider Trophy, adding another major title to his résumé before establishing himself in production-car racing and international sports-car competition.
