A worthy driver on the American open-wheel racing scene, Scott built a reputation for his commitment in Champ Car competition. Like many drivers of his generation, he raced in an age when safety standards were minimal, and the risks of the sport were ever-present.
Tragically, Scott’s promising career was cut short on 5 July 1954 when he was involved in a fatal accident during a Champ Car race at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. He was 25 years old.
