Ricardo Zunino is an Argentine former racing driver who competed in Formula One between 1979 and 1981. During his career, he entered 11 World Championship Grands Prix and also took part in two non-championship events, including the 1980 Spanish Grand Prix and the 1981 South African Grand Prix.
Zunino’s Formula One debut came under unusual circumstances at the 1979 Canadian Grand Prix, where he was called up by Brabham to replace Niki Lauda after Lauda abruptly retired from both the team and the sport. Remarkably, Zunino had been attending the race as a spectator during a break from his regular British Formula One Championship commitments, but was selected for the drive following a recent test with the team.
He continued racing with Brabham into 1980, but after the 1980 French Grand Prix, he was replaced by Héctor Rebaque.
Outside Formula One, Zunino enjoyed success in his home country, winning the Argentine Turismo Nacional championship twice with Fiat.
