Born in Kingston upon Hull and raised in South Africa, Wilson entered two Formula One World Championship Grands Prix. His debut came at the 1960 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, where he drove a privately entered Cooper-Climax but retired just before half-distance. He later appeared at the 1966 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, where he was entered in a private BRM. However, he relinquished his car to Bob Bondurant before the race and did not start.
In addition to his World Championship appearances, Wilson also competed in several non-championship Formula One events during his career.
After retiring from racing, he worked as a motor dealer. Wilson died on 14 January 2001 following a road accident in Gerrards Cross.
