Michael John Churchill Campbell-Jones, born on 21 January 1930, reached single-seaters after useful sports-car results in 1958. Formula Two and non-championship Formula One provided opportunities before his first World Championship entry, at the Belgian Grand Prix on 17 June 1962.

His intended Emeryson suffered gearbox trouble in practice, so a borrowed Lotus enabled him to race. Transmission failure also ended that outing, although he was classified eleventh. Elsewhere, minor placings in non-championship events showed progress, but a practice crash at Solitude left him badly burned and interrupted the season.
For 1963, Campbell-Jones drove a Lola for Tim Parnell. His only championship start that year came at the British Grand Prix, where he finished 13th. It proved to be his final appearance in a World Championship race.
He continued to feature in non-championship competition before gradually withdrawing from the leading single-seater scene. His two championship starts produced no points, but formed part of a broader career that had begun in sports cars and included numerous races outside the title calendar. Campbell-Jones died on 24 March 2020.
