Jack Doohan is an Australian racing driver who served as a reserve driver during the 2022 and 2024 seasons for the Alpine F1 Team before graduating to a full-time Formula One seat with Alpine in 2025. A former member of the Red Bull Junior Team, Doohan was the 2021 FIA Formula 3 vice-champion, and in 2023, during the Formula 2 Championship, he finished in third place with Invicta Virtuosi Racing.
Doohan began his competitive karting career in 2012 after receiving his first kart from his former neighbour, seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher. He went on to win the Australian Karting Championship in both 2015 and 2016. In the following year, Doohan continued to excel, finishing third in the CIK-FIA Karting European Championship and securing sixth place in the World Championship.
Before being confirmed as Aplines second driver for the 2025 F1 Season, Doohan had gained extensive experience in F1 machinery with Alpine over three seasons, preparing for a potential opportunity. He participated in numerous private tests and appeared in multiple FP1 sessions, including in Mexico and Abu Dhabi in both 2022 and 2023, as well as in Canada and Britain in 2024.
Doohan had been consistently linked to a potential promotion within Alpine throughout 2024, with speculation intensifying after the announcement that Esteban Ocon would depart for Haas in 2025. As the paddock gathered at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix to begin the second half of the season, Alpine confirmed that their test and reserve driver, Doohan, would be the one to step up.
Jack is the son of Mick Doohan, a multiple 500cc World Champion in Moto GP.
