1993
Ron Dennis revealed that Mika Hakkinen and Michael Andretti would be McLaren‘s drivers, leaving three-time champion Ayrton Senna without a seat. Senna had shown interest in joining Williams, but his rival Alain Prost, who was already signed with the team, blocked the move.
Consequently, Senna returned to McLaren, replacing Hakkinen for the season opener in South Africa. In his last season with McLaren, Senna clinched five wins, although Prost secured the championship with Williams dominating.
The following year, Senna joined Williams but tragically died in an accident at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
2003
Max Mosley expressed concerns that Formula One was too dependent on manufacturer teams and needed to be more supportive of independent teams. He highlighted the trend of manufacturers such as BMW, Ford, Honda, Mercedes, and Renault leaving the sport and advocated aiding teams such as Williams and Jordan.
His warnings went largely unheeded, but by 2009, Mosley’s predictions were validated as BMW, Ford, Honda, and Toyota had all left the sport.
